Biographical Sketch
Dr. Helena Maltezou was trained in infectious diseases and worked in the project 'Q fever in children' at the Unite des Rickettsies, Universite de la Mediterannee, France. She is also with the Hellenic Center for Disease Control and Prevention, where she is Head of the Department for Interventions in Health-Care Facilities. Dr. Maltezou has supervised the preparation of guidelines for infection control in health-care facilities, including guidelines for seasonal, avian, and pandemic influenza. She participates in ECDC committees on epidemiology and infection control. Her main research interests are infection control, nosocomial influenza, epidemiology of infectious diseases, and emerging and tropical diseases. Dr. Maltezou received her Specialization Diploma in Infectious Diseases. She has almost 100 published articles, abstracts and chapters. She is the editor of the book Tropical and Emerging Infectious Diseases.
