Biographical Sketch
His Excellency General Munir Mangal is the Deputy Minister of Security of Afghanistan, the second-in-command in the country’s Ministry of Interior. He is also the concurrent National Police Commissioner of Afghanistan and is therefore responsible for the Afghan National Police. As Deputy Minister of Security, HE Gen. Mangal provides guidance and directions for all security operations as pointed by the Interior Minister’s strategic security policies, plans, and directives to the uniformed as well as the separate police organizations. His career of 36 years for the military artillery has made him lead at every level from platoon through corps. Although policing is a relatively new profession for him, the President of Afghanistan appointed him to the important post of Deputy Minister of Security because of his honesty, integrity, and superb leadership skills. HE Gen. Mangal was educated in Kabul and completed 12 years of education. He underwent officer training at the Kabul Military Training Center.
