Growing industrialization and urbanization in Algeria presents a host of new challenges in this potentially lucrative emerging market in North Africa. One such challenge facing both the public and private sectors is fire safety. The demand for fire safety devices in Algeria has grown substantially in last few years due to the exponential growth of several major industries.

Accidents, natural disasters and terrorism are among other problems that pose great challenges to the nation. Rapid industrialization and urbanization in recent years has aggravated the problem, leading to a high demand for new solutions.

The Surete Nationale and Gendarmerie are responsible for maintaining law and order, protecting life and property, investigating crimes, apprehending offenders, and traffic control. Algeria spends nearly 15 per cent of its $2 billion annual defense budget on strengthening and modernizing its police force.

While fire incidents, road accidents and natural calamities are inescapable, proper emergency response mechanisms can minimize their damage. Protecting lives and properties against natural calamities and terrorism, in addition to the challenges poses by rapid industrialization and urbanization, are among the multitude of challenges facing the Algerian government. Although, there has been a drop in the number of terrorist attacks in Algeria in recent years, random terrorist attacks against civilians, government officials and properties continues and calls for emergency response mechanism. Due to these factors, Algeria is an excellent market to sell products and services connected with emergency response.
