As one of the major oil-producing countries today, Iraq is pursuing
major foreign investments to tap into
its massive reserves and significantly increase its output.The summit’s focal point would be Iraq’s vast energy reserves which continue to be unexplored. It will also serve as an opportunity for the delegates to discuss potential deals for Iraq which could be a major help to improve its rebuilding efforts.The Iraq Oil and Gas Summit is the first of its kind to bring prominent Iraqi government officials and influential figures from the international business community together to a specific event in order to engage in direct consultation with global energy corporations.

The two-day summit will feature speakers discussing various opportunities for Iraq and its respective provinces. It will also serve as roundtable meeting sessions between various Iraqi bodies and foreign business corporations wherein they are in direct discussions of whatever contributions they could make to improve Iraq’s energy sector.The IOGS will also feature a wide array of international exhibitors who this early have confirmed their participation at this year’s event, based on the rising investments in
the oil and gas sector that are expected to shoot up to more than $120 billion from 2006 up to 2010 in the Gulf countries alone.

Expected to attend are more than 500 exhibitors from 30 countries which will showcase their innovative and state-of-the art technologies and products from the five key energy sectors of oil, gas, pipelines, hydrocarbon technology and petrochemicals.
